Heartland Head Start has two governing bodies responsible for ensuring the program meets its goals and objectives on behalf of our parents and children. In addition, we have Parent Committees that represent each of our programs to direct and support the
meaningful role of parents in shared decision making.
Policy Council
The parents of enrolled children are elected to be responsible for providing input for the direction of the Head Start programs, in partnership with key management staff, by promoting the critical role that parents play in supporting their children’s progress
towards school readiness. Parents work to develop, consider, and review program operations and provide the Governance Board decisions about their implementation and serve as a link to our Parent Committees.
Governance Board
Oversees the legal and fiscal responsibilities of the agency. Members with expertise in fiscal management, law, and early childhood use their knowledge to guide and direct Heartland Head Start’s program, and additional members reflect the community being served.
